About Jodie:

My journey into play therapy wasn’t just about training, it was shaped by real-life experiences that deepened my understanding of children’s emotional worlds.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to supporting children and families, especially those facing difficult circumstances. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with several incredible organisations:
-
HOMESTART (18 months): Supporting families with young children, offering emotional and practical help during challenging times.
-
ESCP (3 years): Providing guidance and emotional support to children and families navigating difficulties.
-
Grief Encounter: Helping children process loss and bereavement through creative and therapeutic approaches. Volunteering on their event and residential trips. Also in their fundraising team gaining the funds needed to support families.
-
Founder of Grief Encounter Youth Committee: Set up annual events to raise essentials funds to support bereaved young adults.
-
Rays of Sunshine Christmas Events: Bringing joy to seriously ill children and their families during the festive season.
-
Committee Member for Arts Therapies for Children (Fundraising Role): Helping to raise essential funds to ensure more children have access to therapeutic support through the arts.

These experiences have given me invaluable insight into the many ways children express their emotions, the struggles families face, and how small, compassionate moments can make a big difference. They’ve also reinforced my belief in the power of play, connection, and creativity in helping children heal.
Everything I do at A Playful Healing Space comes from this foundation of lived experience, offering warmth, understanding, and a safe place where children can truly be themselves.
